Follow our LANWAR arrival day as we travel early, set up SAPPHIRE PURE and NITRO+ systems, and experience the excitement of day one at the LAN event.
Today is the beginning of LANWAR. I woke at “o dark 30” and started loading the car. Thirty minutes later, the wife and I were on the road.
I love driving to events early in the morning. I am able to get on the road before traffic gets bad and just enjoy some quiet time. I turn on Pandora to 70’s Rock Radio, and the wife slept as we began our quest to LANWAR.

WE ARE HERE
After a decently long drive (about 5 hours), we have arrived at LANWAR. I unloaded the car, and the wife, with the help of some LANWAR staff, took the computers inside so I could park the car.
When you first enter a LAN event, you begin to realize how much work these people put in. On Wednesday, for many hours, the team set up tables, ran network and power, set up security cameras, and more. I cannot tell you how amazing the LANWAR staff are to work with.
With everything inside, it is time for me to go to work. I need to set up my wife’s system, our SAPPHIRE PURE build, and then my system, the NITRO+.
Once the systems are set up, I get time to chat with the staff and some of the early arrivals.
So, with both systems set up, now it is just waiting for everyone to arrive. Thursday is day one, and the event officially opened at noon. There are a few people who have been anxiously waiting to get in, but the rest of the day will be a trickle.
The rest of my day is now spent walking around, talking to folks I have developed friendships with, and meeting new people. Of course, there will be some time for gaming as well. The next “moment” for me will be Saturday at 1:00 PM, when I am doing a breakout group. I will talk about that more on Saturday.
For now, I am going to go mingle and walk around the event before starting some serious gaming.
